Fishing is a way to confirm the answer to a hypothesis you have made. The reason why you go to the field many times is because even if you catch a fish, you don't know if your hypothesis was correct or if it was the answer. Because the enemy is nature. Therefore, there is no answer in fishing. Not now, and not in the future.
For 37 years, Shimano has been refining Twin Power based on the concept of simplicity and robustness.
While constantly evolving spinning reel technology, Twin Power will continue to pursue the answer to true simplicity and strength. There is no end to the pursuit of "strength". Now and in the future.
Key Features
A thoroughly refined and trusted model
The first Twin Power took its first steps as Shimano's highest-grade spinning reel at the time. Its foundation was simplicity and sturdiness. It was the product of repeated field testing by the development team, who were all craftsmen. Twin Powers from the first generation onwards were early adopters of cutting-edge materials and mechanisms, and their colouring and design were in line with the concept, captivating anglers with their fresh appearance that combined a sense of security and elation. The current Twin Power is the core model of the Core Solid series, which has built the foundation of Shimano spinning reels, and the idea of simplicity and sturdiness has been passed down to the present day without wavering.
Design honed in the field
The reason why Twin Power is simple, sturdy, and yet sensual is probably because it is like a tool that a craftsman has developed to fit his hand. The spool design, which can be said to be the face of the new Twin Power, is not flashy, but is rugged and silently connected with delicate lines. It is as if it speaks to the angler's sensibility. It can be said that this model satisfies the angler's heart not only by owning it, but also by using it. This may be the reason why there are many core anglers who continue to use the successive Twin Powers among the many spinning reels.
The higher the load, the more reliable it becomes. A genuine goal.
In addition to the metal rotor and HAGANE body, the power unit of the Twin Power has been further strengthened by adding the Infinity Cross and Infinity Drive inherited from Stella. It prevents the target from escaping and pulls it off from the roots. At that moment that determines the outcome of the game, the rigidity that transmits the angler's full force in the handle makes you convinced that it inherits the concept of the genuine Twin Power that pulls the real thing.
A selected model with a metal rotor
Like the 20 Twin Power, the NEW Twin Power uses a metal rotor. The high rigidity and moderate inertia of the metal rotor provide a smooth rotation feeling. In addition, it suppresses deflection and distortion, contributing to improved hooking and drag performance.
Only the Stella and Twin Power from the Core Solid series are equipped with metal rotors. The metal rotor contributes to the unchanging concept of Twin Power, its simplicity and robustness.
Body design aimed for excessive rigidity
The CI4+ used in Twin Power has a reinforced structure with high-strength carbon fiber kneaded into the resin. This carbon fiber blend achieves higher rigidity than reinforced resin.
This is an experiment comparing the amount of deformation when a certain load is applied to test pieces of reinforced resin, CI4+, and aluminum.
Since CI4+ contains carbon fibers, it has higher rigidity than reinforced resin and exhibits less deformation.
Twin Power achieves high rigidity by combining CI4+ with aluminum in the body. Even with a body design using only CI4+, the rigidity is sufficient for normal use.
However, what Twin Power has been pursuing for many years is excessive rigidity in actual fishing. By using aluminum for the foot, which is the part of the body that bears the most load, Twin Power has an excessive rigidity that other reels do not have.
The aim was to achieve overwhelming gear durability
Infinity Cross reduces the load on the gear teeth and dramatically increases durability by approximately 2 times (※). Increasing the contact area of the gear reduces damage to the gear during power fights and jerks, leading to maintaining the best condition. Routine fishing centered on reeling can be done at a higher level, there is less need to think each time, and the sharpened five senses sometimes awaken the angler's instincts. Being able to sense minute changes in water currents, tides, lake currents, and fish behavior will be a great advantage for anglers.

Powerful winding that puts you in control at all times.
When the rod makes a large arc and you put your hand on the handle knob to stop the target from escaping, the strength of your hand is not transmitted to the reel. You can't win the fight... The Infinity Drive allows you to avoid such moments by enabling powerful winding even under high load. Because it is a powerful reel, you can use a lower number than usual, and as a result, the angler can take the initiative and reel in the fish more easily.
A smooth casting feel
For example, when casting a lure, the lure hits the water by pulling the line. However, the Infinity Loop has realized a casting feel that makes the angler forget the existence of the line. The feeling is like letting go, and it is like shooting an arrow. The significant reduction in resistance when releasing the line not only enables long casts, but also contributes to a stable fall speed after hitting the water.
Line trouble prevention structure for more comfortable fishing
Anti-twist fins reduce line slack, preventing the line from falling off the bottom of the spool and reducing the phenomenon of the line being wound around the spool while still twisted. This prevents the line from getting tangled around the spool or unnaturally wound, which many anglers have experienced with any spinning reel, allowing for more stress-free fishing.
Overwhelming wear resistance, smooth and reliable drag performance
Duracross uses drag washers made from a new material, which has increased wear resistance by more than 10 times (*). It is suitable for a wide range of fishing, from bass and trout fishing using light lines where smooth drag is important, and light saltwater fishing, to inshore and shore fishing where you may encounter unexpected large fish.
