BREAK YOUR RECORD - Seize and catch your dreams -

"Someday, catch that fish." SALTIGA was born to make anglers' dreams come true. It inherits the strongest genes of DAIWA offshore and continues to evolve with the latest technology.
The premise is to confront unknown large fish. It continues to challenge the limits of tackle, pursuing strength in every area, ease of use, and superior performance. Saltiga is expected to be a tackle that will surely bring you closer to your dream fish. Continuing to fulfill its purpose in existence means that anglers' dreams will come true. Its reliable performance supports the dreams of anglers all over the world.

Dominate the near-shore jigging scene.

The near-shore jigging bait reel has been reborn with an improved HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR. It is also equipped with a spool lock mechanism, which is the first for Daiwa in a level wind model. It can be used in all near-shore situations, such as the rapids of the Akashi area and the Setouchi area.
The SALTIGA 300's HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR has an increased tooth width. It provides smooth and powerful rotation performance from low to high loads. In addition, it is equipped with HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT, HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH, and HYPER ARMED HOUSING to achieve perfect specifications. The frame uses a thumb holding frame, which provides excellent palming performance that overturns the benefits of compactness. In addition, the handle side plate is equipped with anode protection. The SALTIGA 300, which was designed to withstand harsh environments in mind, will be a new weapon to conquer near-shore jigging.

Daiwa Technology

HYPERDRIVE DESIGN
The next-generation design concept for baitcasting (double-axis) reels, which significantly improves the standard of all basic performance with the aim of maintaining high initial performance for a long time. The Hyper Drive design is composed of up to four technologies. The Hyper Drive Digigear, which maintains smooth rotation for a long time, is a prerequisite, and the Hyper Double Support assists the gear drive to provide strong and light winding. The Hyper Armed Housing strongly supports the internal structure and is resistant to bending and distortion. The Hyper Tough Clutch with an insulating structure continues to operate even in harsh locations and greatly reduces adhesion due to salt. The synergistic effect of these technologies continues to provide stable performance in any field.
HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR
A newly designed gear system that pursues sustained strong and smooth rotation. This is DAIWA's unique technology that achieves an increased meshing rate without reducing the module (size) of the gear teeth, which directly affects durability, allowing the initial smoothness to be maintained for a long time.
This series features an increased tooth width, which provides smooth, powerful rotation performance from low to high loads.
HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT
A drive support system that achieves sustained smoothness and strong, light winding. Both ends of the pinion gear are supported with two ball bearings with high precision, which makes it possible to wind up powerfully and lightly even under load without attenuating the input from the handle.
HYPER ARMED HOUSING (FULL AL)
The housing system firmly supports the internal structure with high rigidity and precision, producing a precise winding feel and power. The use of metal materials for the frame, which is the essential requirement, is a prerequisite, and in combination with the side plate and set plate, it makes it possible to continue to exert basic performance for an even longer period of time.
This series uses aluminum alloy for the frame, both side plates, and the set plate. It is a full metal housing that is fully machine cut by the machine cut that is unique to the round shape, and realizes robustness and unparalleled strength. Particular attention was paid to the thumb rest position. We adopted a thumb holding frame in pursuit of the thumbing position during the fall, when operating the jig, the exchange after hooking, and the position to continue holding.
HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH
Not only does this clutch system have crisp on/off performance that continues to slide thousands or tens of thousands of times, but it also has extremely few problems even in seawater with high salinity. Its cutting-edge insulation structure has already reduced the number of repairs due to sticking in harsh salt environments by 99% compared to our previous model.
MAGSEALED BALL BEARING
Using its unique technology, DAIWA has succeeded in turning ball bearings into mag-shields for the first time in the world. The magnetic liquid barrier prevents water and foreign matter from entering the ball bearing, maintaining the original rotational performance of the ball bearing while significantly eliminating rust, salt buildup, and abnormal noise.
ATD
The ATD operates smoothly and keeps working smoothly in response to the pull of the fish. It pursues smooth start and tracking, allowing you to concentrate on the fight without worrying about the drag setting.

■ Anode protection (※The photo shows 25SALTIGA 35.)
"Unbreakable durability that will not decay"

Anode protection is a technology that reduces metal corrosion. Also called a sacrificial anode, the anode (zinc) takes on the corrosion instead of the metal corroding. By installing this technology in the reel, the aim is to concentrate the corrosion on the anode plate and maintain durability.

*Customers cannot replace the anode protection plate installed in the 25SALTIGA 300.
*The anode protection plate does not completely prevent rust and corrosion of the entire reel body.
*Anode protection is not maintenance-free.
*Anode protection is a consumable item. Corrosion will progress with continued use, but this is not abnormal.
*Never paint the anode protection with paint or other materials. The corrosion prevention effect will be lost. Please do not do so.
*The anode protection plate will corrode at different speeds depending on the usage conditions. Please read "Important! Care Instructions" in the instruction manual carefully and wash with water as soon as possible after use.
■ Synchro level wind
"Dramatically improves drag performance."

Synchro level wind is a mechanism where the level wind synchronizes with the line position and follows it left and right when the line is released. The advantage is that there is less resistance when the line is released. It also improves smoothness when the drag is activated.
Furthermore, the SALTIGA 300 has undergone a structural reform of the synchro mechanism, just like the 21 SALTIGA IC.
In order to achieve a "compact" design, the synchro structure, which was previously taken for granted on the palming plate side, has been relocated to the handle side.
This structure is one of the major factors that enabled the compact design to be achieved.
■ Spool lock mechanism
"Line cutting function that is useful in jigging scenes"

A mechanism to completely fix the spool and lock the spool from reversing.
When removing a snag, if you pull it forcefully, it may damage not only the line but also the gear and ball bearings. However, by using the spool lock mechanism, it is possible to separate the spool and pinion gear and cut the line without damaging the gear or ball bearings. It is

easy to use.
1. Switch the spool lock lever to ON.
2. Turn the clutch OFF.
3. In this state, apply tension for the first time and pull to cut the line.
The key is to separate the spool and pinion gear.

An essential function that responds safely, securely, and quickly.

*The spool lock mechanism of the 25SALTIGA300 can be used with PE lines of 3.0 or less.
■Thumb holding frame
"Shifting the idea from gripping to finger gripping"

We analyzed the gripping style of various anglers and pursued a shape that fits the hand better. We developed a thumb holding frame that aims for a thumb rest position that is easy to hold and reduces the risk of your fingers slipping out.
We also took into consideration the thumb position after the clutch is released, significantly improving comfort.
With a completely new palming experience, we have greatly changed the concept of "grip".
■75-85mm Aluminum crank handle arm
"Strong and tough aluminum handle arm"

Aluminum crank handle with a handle arm length setting of 75-85mm that is easy to use for targeting bluefish with normal one-pitch jerks.

*85mm when shipped.
■85mm T-shape power knob
"Overwhelming grip"

The T-shaped power knob is designed to provide comfortable operability when jerking and reeling, with a comfortable grip and a comfortable grip when gripping the handle, and various thumb placements.
The shaft is thick enough to make it easier to pinch the shaft and jerk when doing one-pitch fishing. When lifting for slow jigging, you can grip it firmly to create a stable jerk.
It can be used for a wide range of fishing, from coastal jigging to slow jigging.

Tester impressions

Naoki Sumizawa

A long-awaited model change. A jigging reel that is always light to wind.

Simply put, the 25SALTIGA 300 has become much lighter when reeling in, and the reeling resistance has been reduced compared to the conventional SALTIGA BJ, as well as the SALTIGA IC. When I first used the SALTIGA 300, I simply felt that it was very light when I jerked it without any preconceptions. When I asked the person in charge of planning the reason, he said that "HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR has been improved." The tooth width of the HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR has been increased. By widening the tooth width of the gear, "the rotation performance is less likely to decrease, and the reeling feel becomes smoother from low to high loads."
I don't know much about the details of the mechanics myself, but as an angler, I could tell right away that the load when reeling in has been reduced and the reeling feel has become lighter. Moreover, it can be reeled in smoothly regardless of whether the load is low or high. I think this is a big change.
Once you use the SALTIGA300, the SALTIGA BJ, which is considered the previous model of bait reels without a counter, seems like a Showa reel that skipped the Heisei era. It's not just one or two ranks up, it's reached a whole new level.
Compared to the SALTIGA IC300, regardless of whether it has a counter or not, there is a big difference in the jerking feel and the lightness of winding. The sturdiness and winding power are on a whole new level. The spool diameter is 1mm larger than the SALTIGA IC300. The width of the spool remains the same, but the diameter has been enlarged from 43mm to 44mm. This change allows you to wind 100cm with one turn of the handle.
During the video location of the SALTIGA300, we continued fishing for two days in the harsh summer, and at the very end we were able to catch three yellowtails. I think this means that it was able to jerk well until the end. I was surprised at how smoothly and lightly it was wound up even under high load. It was such an awful two days of heat that I don't know if I would have been able to keep jerking until the end or fight properly without the SALTIGA300.

I was surprised at how well it fit when I put my thumb on it and how well it fit, and I think the palming performance has also improved. I use a right-handed reel, but the fit of my left hand when palming is amazing, and it's very comfortable to use and jerk. I think the thumb holding frame has greatly contributed to improving the fit. It feels like it fits perfectly in your hand.

Until now, it was a sense of "holding" it, or "gripping," but with this reel, it feels like you "put" your left thumb on it. If it's flat, you have to grab it firmly, but with an incline, you don't have to grip it tightly, just put it on. It fits like a lock, and my thumb gets caught. I have small hands, but I can hold it with a feeling that I wouldn't expect from a 300. This makes it less tiring to fish for long periods of time. This isn't limited to the SALTIGA 300, but what I really like about the grip is the front pillar that covers the bottom of the level wind. You can hook your index finger here and grip it tightly. I like the front pillar of the SALTIGA 300 because it allows you to grip it with force.
I have yet to use it much, but I am looking forward to its durability. The HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR, which has an increased tooth width, is said to have improved durability, so I would like to use it as much as I can. The anode protection that is installed will not be fully demonstrated, but it is definitely a function that can withstand long-term use. I believe that it is a reel that is highly durable even in harsh environments such as being covered in seawater, and can be used with confidence.

I use the SALTIGA 300 mainly for power fishing, mainly for bluefish, and in my own fishing, I think I will use the SALTIGA 300 mainly for light jigging around Toba. The main target is bluefish such as yellowtail. I intend to develop power fishing.

The SALTIGA 300 has two gear ratios: a normal gear of 1:6.3 and a high gear of 1:7.3. Comparing the winding length with the SALTIGA IC300, the normal gear is 87cm, which is 2cm longer, and the high gear is 100cm, which is 3cm longer. In terms of efficient fishing, being able to wind more is a plus.
When it comes to using different gear ratios, the first thing to consider is the water depth. High gear is used in deep water, and normal gear in shallow water. In addition, when the fish are active and you want to attack quickly or at a high pitch, you should use high gear, but conversely, when the hit zone is narrow and the fish don't bite if you raise it too much, or when the fish are not active, you should use normal gear.
Let's also introduce how to use it differently from the SALTIGA IC300. Around Toba, my home ground, I know the water depth and the topography of the points, so I think the SALTIGA 300 will be my main reel.

In fields I'm new to or don't know much about, I'll fish while understanding the water depth and the situation of the points, so I think I'll have more opportunities to use the SALTIGA IC300. In my case, I mainly fish for hairtail, but when fishing in the middle layer, I think I'll use the SALTIGA IC300 because of its counter function.

Also, in fields where speed is important, I think I'll choose the SALTIGA 300 because it has a fast winding speed, even if it's only 2cm or 3cm. In fields with fast currents, the SALTIGA 300 is easy to use because it is light to wind and strong, but in places where I'm not used to it, I want to quickly understand the water depth. It's difficult to choose which one to use. I think I'll use both (laughs).
Also, the spool lock mechanism is extremely convenient. I often use 1.5 and 2-gou lines, but the lines I use now are strong, so they are difficult to cut if they get snagged. If you pull too hard, you may damage your gear, so the spool lock mechanism allows you to pull with confidence, which is a blessing.
Takahiro Konaka

Not only is the reel powerful, but it also has a level wind and spool lock function.

The SALTIGA300 is a reel that aims to achieve 1 output for every 1 input force. It is equipped with a new HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR with increased tooth width, which has significantly improved winding strength and durability, but personally, I think the spool lock function is the most attractive feature.
For my fishing, I will mainly use it for bottom fishing, such as bluefish in Akashi and the Sea of Japan, and rockfish in Wakayama and Sanin. If you are fishing in the middle layer, it is the SALTIGA IC300.
What I want you to pay attention to about the SALTIGA300 is that it is equipped with a spool lock on a 300-number reel with a level wind. The spool lock is a big advantage in fields where there are a lot of snags, such as Akashi and Wakayama.
Today's PE lines are very strong. If you hold the spool with your fingers on a star drag reel to cut a snag on the line, there is a high possibility of damaging the gear. It is a useful function in terms of making the reel last longer.
There were many requests from captains, especially in the Akashi area. Many people are unable to use their fingers to properly wind the line on a reel without a level wind, so they are asking for a compact reel with a level wind and the ability to lock the spool. Akashi is a field with fast currents. If the line goes under the boat, you need to cut it in an instant, otherwise you risk damaging the rod. There is no time to use a tool to cut off the snags. I think there are fields like that all over the country, so I think this reel will be very useful. In other words, it's not just a reel with the IC counter removed.
